Kimberley Hill... Believe It, Achieve It.
She’s the Assistant Manager and the face of Group Fitness at Fitness Plus, the queen of choreography and the comedian behind most of our ridiculous themes and outfits at our ‘dress up’ classes and launches. She’s the one and only Kim Hill.
This fun loving, easy going chick hides the talent of a sport superstar, and in her spare time can be found carving up the hockey field representing Tamworth, our region, our state, and yes, our country, all over the place in Australia and the South Pacific. At just 21 years of age, she’s a poster girl for the saying, ‘Believe it, Achieve It’.
Anne Segboer... Consistency is the key
With a Bachelor and Graduate Diploma in Health Science, a Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics, a Certificate IV in Fitness, and a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment and Training, it may well be that what Anne Segboer doesn’t know about health and fitness, isn’t all that important!
Although she still only looks 35, AJ has been a highly respected and admired fitness industry professional for 19 years, and says that she loves being able to enjoy her life through all the benefits that exercise and eating well brings, especially as she gets older.
You’ll meet AJ teaching RPM and Pump, but don’t expect to get off lightly in her classes! A master of technique and a powerful motivator, one of our more colourful rumours (all started by us, of course) is that she received her training from Mr Miyagi (think Karate Kid and if you’re younger than 20, ask your parents what we’re talking about!).
Anne’s best piece of fitness advice is to be consistent with your exercise program. Consistency means that when issues arise in your life and you can’t exercise or eat well, returning to your normal regime will happen no matter what!
Anne is also an Accredited Practicing Dietician (APD), so you can be sure she’s committed to a life-long process of ongoing personal and professional development.
Naomi Neville... Fit. Fun & Friendly
She’s passionate about fitness, people, and the Les Mills way of life, and she’ll have you up and moving in no time. Namoi says she started her own fitness journey to lose weight (55 kilos in fact!) and has never looked back.
‘I was going to a gym trying to lose weight, and I started hot cycle classes, becoming a regular participant. I loved it so much I decided to train for RPM, knowing the weight would continue to come off with training...Now I love to help others achieve their dreams.’
Namoi says that making new friends in class, and seeing the smiles on participant’s faces when they know they've worked hard gives her motivation to continue.
When she’s not at the gym, Namoi loves to spend time with family, riding her motorbike with her husband and friends. She says the nicest place she’s ever been is the beautiful white sands of the sunshine coast QLD, with its clear water and gorgeous beaches (but we know it’s only a close second to Fitness Plus!)
David Kemp... This is gonna hurt you more than it hurts me.
David tells us that the main difference between a group fitness leader and a dentist is that the dentist at least lets you sit down while they hurt you, and his answers to the profile questions were a reflection of this deep and reflective character. Latest book he read... What’s a book? Favourite hobby.... Harassing others. But we can think of three great reasons to check out David’s Pump and RPM classes today.
1. He’ll keep you moving and motivated
2. He’s always up for a laugh
3. He’ll have you getting quick results through great form and technique
4. You never know when he might share some shopping tips (he has the best clothes and accessories out of all of us).
Min McDonald... She runs like a girl
(try to keep up)
With four sons, a husband, and a job to juggle, people often say to Min, ‘How do you have the energy to exercise?’ She answers ‘How on earth would you keep up with four sons if you didn’t exercise?’
A self-confessed gym junkie, Min took on the challenge of instructing almost three years ago, training in BodyBalance and BodyPump. When she’s not helping people become calmer and stronger in our simply fabulous Balance classes, Min’s out running half-marathons, playing with her kids and hanging out with friends from church, the gym, and school. She says making exercise part of your lifestyle isn’t as hard as you might think, and has been great for losing weight, getting strong, and being a healthier, happier role model for her kids.
Graham Grant... Fighting fit... and lovin’ it
Graham was just 13 years old when he first pulled on a pair of boxing gloves, and he hasn't looked back. He swears that he was practising on a chaff bag full of sawdust, but we're prepared to bet that if we delved deep enough into his past we'd find at least a couple of blokes who are sorry they messed with him!
These days, Graham's a regular family guy, and when not enjoying time with wife Debi, daughter Kellie, and son Dean (who all train here at Fitness Plus), he'll be chilling out with a beer watching UFC Cage Fighting.
Graham says he loves the feeling exercise gives him, and loves challenging himself physically. We've noticed he likes to share that challenge too, so if you're ready to get fighting fit, check out Graham's Fitbox class now!
Rebecca Van Tilburg... Where there’s a will, there’s a way!
We once heard one of our participants say to Bec ‘You are the most balanced person’... although they were referring to her fantastic classes, and not her mental health, we all love Bec for her calming, strengthening influence, and her brilliant BodyBalance technique. She won’t make you stand on your head with your legs tied in a knot, but she’ll have you believing you could if you wanted to!
When she’s not helping people reach new levels of functional strength and flexibility, Bec is busy caring for people with special needs, and juggling hubby and three ankle-biters at home. Remind us again how she stays so calm?
?
Tom Klein... Go for It!
When you first see Tom, you’ll wonder.... Personal trainer? Weight lifter? Pump Instructor? You’d be forgiven for guessing any of these, but the fact is that Tom just loves to STEP! You’ll see him getting down to the party track, feeling the burn in the lower body workout, and carving up the step in the cardio peak. For a great athletic workout, and a whole bunch of fun, check out one of Tom’s classes soon.
Maree Clavel... J’adore Fitness Plus.
Although she speaks German, French and Japanese, you’ll mostly hear Maree yelling at you in English if you attend one of our rockin’ Pump or Step classes. Born and raised in Tamworth, the blond dynamo spent 16 years away before realising that there was no place like home, and returning to the country music capital. She has a great family (think spunky hubby and 2 gorgeous rug rats) but says she could probably learn to cope if she and Colin Firth were trapped on a desert island together.
Maree is known and loved for her cheerful smile and positive attitude.... you’ll be having so much fun you won’t even realise how hard you’re working!
Mandy Lord... Will work for chocolate.
Mandy Lord is a personal trainer, RPM Instructor, wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend, marathon runner, iron woman, chocoholic, and the list goes on. Proud Mum to Gabby, Maddy and Harry (and of course Oscar, the happiest dog in the world). Mandy started working out for fitness, weight management, friendship and fun, and has never looked back.
Highlights of Mandy’s career so far include completing the Port Macquarie Iron Man in 2006 (yes, we do mean a 3.8km swim, 180km cycle and 42km run) and the gruelling 100km run at the Gold Coast in 2008, but she tells us there are still goals to be reached. In fact ... “the sky’s the limit’.
She’s proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that the 40’s are the new 20’s, but one thing’s for sure... this pocket rocket personal trainer is bound to get you fit, motivated and addicted to chill out sessions at the Sleepy Monkey!
Heidi Swab
Title: Gym Instructor
She’s the friendly face on the counter, and the happy smile and greeting as you walk through the gym, but don’t be fooled...under that cheerful exterior lies a pocket rocket with boundless energy.
Heidi has taken the group fitness room by storm, sharing her motivational and enthusiastic approach with Fitness Plus participants every day.
Heidi says she loves thef act that every day at the gym is different, and you can always find a new challenge, meet new people, and learn something you didn’t know.
When she’s not brightening people’s days at the gym, Heidi can be found chilling out with friends, or carving up a triathlon course (just to burn some excess energy).
If you’re looking for something fresh to kick start your fitness regime, check out one of Heidi’s classes sometime soon.
